Welcome to the world of Byker

Our brief is simple, we want to promote good, unknown writers, entertain the reader and have a bit of a laugh. Our literary heroes are the likes of Irvine Welsh, Christopher Brookmyre, Kevin Sampson, Alan Sillitoe, Danny King, Max Kinnings and Charlie Williams. That list isn't exhaustive, in fact we could go on for days about the stuff we like, but it should give you an idea of what we want to showcase on the site, hopefully publish in the future and generally read every day.

At this present moment, and mainly because poverty dictates, we're concentrating on our 'Radgepacket' project and so won't be accepting submissions for anything other than short British fiction but keep an eye on the site because we have plans to uncover and promote unsigned talent in the not too distant future.

In the meantime though, why don't you peruse the 'Radgepacket Online' page, maybe have a look at 'Our Publications' and then let us know what you think via the email address on the 'Contact Us' page. Maybe you'll get inspired enough to start scribbling yourself, submit it to us and become a global superstar.....or maybe not.

Whatever happens though you can sit back and relax, safe in the knowledge that edgy British fiction isn't quite dead after all. The boy wizards, 'celebrity' authors and chick lit set haven't quite closed all the outlets for stories that might actually relate to you.

Thanks for dropping by - until the next time....

Ps - We're on facebook these days (along with the rest of the world!) so if you want to join our group and get regular updates about anything and everything just stick the imaginatively titled phrase 'Byker Books' into the search bubble and off you go...

Radgepacket Volume 1 has arrived!

Byker Books have mustered a cabal of writers who write like people possessed about people possessed. Tales from the Inner Cities wades into the British underclass with tight clenched fists and eyes wide open.

Pick it up if you’re hard enough – put it down if you can.’

Correction Corner!

'The Gratitude Journal' in Radgepacket 1 has been incorrectly attributed to 'Jan Francis'  when in reality it was penned by the immensely talented 'Jan Harris'.  We hope this sets the record straight and you can rest assured the offending numpty will be flogged to within an inch of their worthless life!
